june 2026
This is so late….I’ve been putting this off for so long….but it’s better late than never :D
the month’s media

listening
Like A Prayer (Choir Version): I love this song and how transcendent the song feels, and this choir version takes it to the next level. It makes work feel like a more monumental activity and like I’m in a movie.
Is This Love - XG: LSS-ed so hard to this because it was the song for one of my dance classes! It’s such a feel-good song and it’s impossible not to smile when listening to this.
New Jack Swing Songs: Have been on a new jack swing kick since I was so excited for the new jack swing dance class I was going to be attending. Some of my favorite new jack swing songs that I’ve been listening to on repeat this month include:
Rub You the Right Way - Johnny Gill
Do Me! - Bell Biv Devoe
My Prerogative - Bobby Brown:
you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love - Olivia Rodrigo: I particularly liked maggots for brains and u + me = <3 and expectations; but what I really loved about the album were the lyric videos???? They were so gorgeous and it was truly a joy to watch every single lyric video. It’s so lovely to see an artist put this much love and care into their releases and every aspect of it.
watching
Enola Holmes (2020) and Enola Holmes 2 (2022): Watched the movies with my mom and Lance in preparation for Enola Holmes 3 which was releasing soon. It was such a fun watch since I do love empowered and smart female characters….and what a lovely surprise to see Henry Cavill in the movie since I’ve always had a crush on him :”)
The Loved One (2026): Was so excited since I loooove Jericho Rosales and I like Anne Curtis, but this was so disappointing. I really did not like this film at all. What do you mean you’ve been together for 10 years already yet have not talked about the important things to talk about in relationships…..it really just was not a match and it was mind boggling to see them continually try to salvage a relationship that obviously wasn’t going to work. I couldn’t root for either of them either since they both got on my nerves so much.
reading
The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie: This is my first Agatha Christie novel, so I was quite excited as someone who grew up reading (and playing) Nancy Drew and enjoying mystery-related stuff. And this was so enjoyable, and I did NOT expect the ending/twist at the end. It was so well done! It was a bit hard because parts of it were written not in modern English (e.g. the way they talked about time), but it wasn’t too bad once you’ve gotten used to it. The reveal was so well done as well, so that when we were walked through the reveal/clues we’d missed, it was like an a-ha! moment.
Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams by Matthew Walker: It took me a while to finish this because it was very heavy on information and science that I wanted to remember. I learned a lot from this though it did make me a bit more stressed about getting enough sleep (more than 7 hours in bed/asleep). It’s been a while since I genuinely enjoyed learning and reading about a very science-heavy subject, and would recommend this for anyone who wants to improve their sleeping habits and misses the kind of learning that happens in schools.
eats

The month was a good mix of tried and tested restaurants and new places! Some memorable eats this month include:
Bibingka MNL opened a new branch at the office building! So happy since I like bibingka, and they have good hot chocolate reminiscent of tsoknut.
Pizzahut, my childhood favorite. It’s not as good as it was when I was a kid, but that just might be my memory being colored by nostalgia.
Tried Minsok in Poblacion with Tere and Carlos before the Trentahin Music Night! Pork was good though medyo bitin especially since the pork slices are so thin.
At dahil nabitin ako sa kbbq, I asked Lance if he wanted to eat at Jung’s Kitchen with me LOL. Meat cravings were satisfied; this was so good! Their beef slices are my fave…
Tried Wahunomi with Dan and Carlos! Their best dish was the bibingka; chicken skewers were good as well and would be something I’d order again. The rice though was a bit too flavorful… and I feel like it would’ve been better had there been plain rice to offset the food since it was all so rich and flavorful.
Dinner at home c/o Dad: bagnet and string beans with pork! This was so good <3
Hizon’s cake: Forever a Yu family favorite!
Kushizaru dinner! Carlos and I split the salmon bowl: salmon was so salmony and fresh, and the rice so soft.
Also from Kushizaru: pork yakitori! Would definitely order this again; so sad though that it’s only available in the evenings.
Can never go wrong with hotpot from Mala Malatang hehe :”)
creations
I don’t exactly have a finished artwork, but most of the month was spent working on the Wheein portrait I was going to use in the Wheein freebies for Mamamoo’s concert in August :”) it’s been a while since I’ve done a kpop portrait.
highlights

Not much went on this month, but it might just seem that way since I’m typing this after Octobr, which was such a packed month!
Trentahin Night at The Fun Roof: One of my highlights this month was dancing the night away to throwback hits with Tere and Carlos! Sobrang saya - this is the kind of partying and songs I always wished I’d done, but was just too young to experience back in the late 2010s. Made a mistake though and forgot my earplugs, and considering I spent most of my time in front of the DJ and speakers, my ears were ringing afterwards. Spent the next few days with ringing in my ears and have since never forgotten them during concerts or parties.
Dispatch Game: Spent so much of the month playing Dispatch, to the point where I was strategizing on how to best play the game during service since I couldn’t stop thinking about the game. It’s so fun!
Setlog: Tried out setlog, and it’s been fun seeing the day to days of friends’ lives (though have not been updating much as of late oops).
Getting into working out (swimming): Have not swum in so long but have started going with Lance to Celebrity to workout! It’s fun being able to exercise and being able to spend time together with Lance on the way to and from the swimming pool.
Dance classes: So fun getting to attend different dance classes! I tried Coach Abo’s new jack swing dance class (which I’ve always wanted to attend for so long) and was also able to attend the Justin Bieber Favorite Girl dance collab class by Coach Seb and Coach Wang. :”)
